Marissa Corona, Ph.D. (PSY 27499) is a licensed clinical psychologist with a strong clinical and research background in a wide range of disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. She has worked and trained in multiple clinical settings including children's hospitals, medical inpatient units, psychiatric inpatient units, university-based psychology clinics, and outpatient community clinics. Dr. Corona has also served as a research therapist on randomized clinical trials (RCT’s) at Stanford and University of Washington.

Dr. Corona does not accept insurance and is considered an out-of-network provider. However, she is happy to provide a superbill statement of services for clients to submit directly to their insurance companies.

Dr. Corona specializes in providing evidence-based psychological treatments that have been scientifically supported in their effectiveness. These evidence-based treatments have been extensively researched in the field, and consist of state-of-the-art approaches to mental health. Dr. Corona's approach is compassionate and warm, while rooted in practical and effective strategies.
Dr. Corona has unique expertise in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. She is one of the only certified FBT (Family-Based Treatment/Maudsley) therapist for eating disorders in the Los Angeles area.
In addition to eating disorders, Dr. Corona is well versed in treating anxiety and depressive disorders, and chronic pediatric conditions. She only provides treatments that are based on empirical evidence which predominantly focus on cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, and family-based psychotherapy.
Prior to her private practice in Pasadena, Dr. Corona worked with the Anxiety & Depression Center: Cognitive Behavior Therapy Specialists, in Newport Beach, CA, where she was a CBT Therapist for kids, teens, and adults.
Eating Disorders are complex and can cause significant impact on psychological, physical, medical, and cognitive aspects of the individual's life. Dr. Corona specializes in providing Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Eating Disorders and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Eating Disorders, in order to help get individuals back to their normal life. FBT is a treatment approach that has strong scientific support in treating adolescents with eating disorders, and uses parents/caregivers as a primary source in recovery. CBT focuses primarily on thoughts and cognitions that are contributing to the eating problems. If warranted, Adolescent-Focused Psychotherapy for Eating Disorders is also provided.

Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Other Specified Eating Disorder, and Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Children and adolescents can also experience anxiety and depression. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Depression, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety are evidence-based treatment for these conditions. Dr. Corona is a CBT specialist, and incorporates other approaches, such as Mindfulness, Exposure Therapies, and Behavior Therapy, as needed.
Diagnoses treated include:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder.
Dr. Corona can also provide psychotherapy treatment for a variety of other child and adolescent concerns including parent training for behavioral problems, stress management, adjustment problems, social skills, chronic abdominal pain, and co-occurring medical conditions.
